The short answer is that virtual training courses that allow students to participate from their home or office rather than a traditional classroom or other designated training environment are available.
The Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED course incorporates the latest science and teaches students to recognize and care for a variety of first aid emergencies and how to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies to help victims of any age - adults (about 12 years and older) and pediatric (infants and children up to 12 years of age). Students who successfully complete this course will receive a certificate from the Health & Safety Institute Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED valid for two years that meets the NYS OCFS regulatory requirements.
Class can be online or in-person.
Caring for children in center based, family day care or group family day care program is a big responsibility. To ensure that new providers are prepared for this responsibility, they must complete 15 hour health and safety training . We offer the OCFS mandated 15 hour training for FDC & GFDC providers as well as our health and safety training specially designed for center-based providers. Review basics including indoor and outdoor safety safety precautions related to body fluids, managing illnesses in child care, and food safety.

TRAINING IN PRINCIPLES OF INFECTION CONTROL SPECIFICALLY FOR PROFESSIONALS IN CHILD CARE SETTINGS SUCH AS DAY CARE CENTERS AND PRE-SCHOOLS
This course is approved by the New York State Office of Children and Family Service for training hours which meet the NYS regulated training requirements.
The following NY State OCFS Training topics are addressed:
- Nutrition and Health Needs of Infants and Children (OCFS)
- Statutes and Regulations Pertaining to Child Day Care (OCFS)
417/416.14 (c) Each employee and volunteer must complete a minimum of thirty (30) hours of training every two years. The required 30 hours of training every two years is subject to the following conditions:
(1) Fifteen of the required thirty (30) hours of training must be obtained during the person’s first six months at the program.
(2) A minimum of five (5) hours of Office-approved training must be obtained each year which addresses topics or subject matters set forth in 416.14(f).
